Student Councils

The interests of the student body are represented centrally by the General Students' Committee (AStA). However, given the numerous departments, students' interests are also represented by their own subjects in the form of student representatives (in German: Fachschaftsrat). In many cases, the Fachschaftsrat is abbreviated as "Fachschaft". This council consists of honorary students of a department who are elected during an official general assembly. At the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, there are officially three Fachschaftsräte: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Computational Engineering.

The tasks of the student representatives can be very varied: They delegate student representatives to the faculty committees, serve as contact persons for all students of the subject, help with questions and problems and facilitate the start of studies for freshmen by advising and organizing or supporting freshmen-events.
