In March 2025, the International Association for Wind Engineering (IAWE) was successfully registered as a non-profit association at the Bochum District Court.
This means that the IAWE is now officially a legal entity based in Germany – after many years with its office in Japan. With its successful registration at the end of March this year, the IAWE was able to commence official business operations in Bochum, an important milestone for Dr. Cornelia Kalender, AG Windingenieurwesen und Strömungsmechanik, who has held the position of Secretary General of the IAWE since November 2024. Her four-year term as president of the German-speaking professional association Windtechnologische Gesellschaft (WTG) e.V., a member organization of the IAWE, ends in September 2025, allowing her to focus her professional commitment on the office of IAWE Secretary General and continue her work at the international level. In this context, she has already coordinated several activities, including regional assemblies and board meetings during the IAWE regional conferences, such as the ACWE in St. Louis from May 19-22, 2025, and the EACWE in Trondheim from June 16-19, 2025. The next regional meeting will take place during the APCWE in Chengdu from August 15-19, 2025.
The IAWE is a global association of 24 regional professional societies with over 3,100 members. Its goal is to strengthen international cooperation in the field of wind engineering and to promote scientific research in this interdisciplinary field.
