The Wood Construction Guide is aimed at professionals in local authorities and planning and architecture firms. It provides practical examples of how wood construction can be integrated into urban development concepts from the outset, benefiting climate protection, improved resource utilization, and the creation of living space.
The publication was produced as part of the research project “Holzbau_findet_Stadt” (Wooden Construction_Finds_the_City), which was conducted under the direction of Prof. Annette Hafner and Prof. Christa Reicher (RWTH Aachen University). The research team analyzed 25 exemplary timber construction neighborhoods in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with 20 to 1,000 residential units, conducted interviews with experts, and tested findings in student designs.
