The first fireside evening of the BreakING round 2025/2026 took place on February 10, 2026. With a “fireside,” drinks, and snacks, the bentonite laboratory was transformed into a place of exchange.

The highlight of the event was the presentation by Ms. Anna Krewald, head of the Sustainability and Energy Department and the Sustainability Office at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). She provided a comprehensive insight into her work, the diverse fields of activity of the Sustainability Office, and the implementation of the university's sustainability strategy.
Guests at the event included this year's and former mentees, their mentors, numerous women from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a representative from Department 3, and the RUB's Equal Opportunities Officer.
